Empathy for the ‘other’.

From the Interfaith Encounter Association, Israel – www. interfaith-encounter.org: There is great joy in seeing the fruits of one's labor, especially regarding our work in interfaith. ADAMA is in its 5th month of activities now, and already we are seeing results. At our 4th meeting held on Thursday, May 30th, before our meeting began, there were comments and wishes made by our Moslem members to the speedy recovery of one of our Jewish member's young son, who had undergone brain surgery at the beginning of our week. One participant said he prayed for the boy the morning of the surgery. In another conversation, when it was announced that one of our Moslem members did not make it to the meeting because his permit to enter Maaleh Adumim did not come through, one of our Jewish members asked if there was anything we could do as a group to ensure that permits will always be forthcoming to those wanting to come to our interfaith meetings. These voices of empathy towards the "other" give strength to the work we do.
